An overnight accident near the Lee-Moore County line led to a harrowing rescue after a teenage girl became trapped beneath an overturned pickup truck on South Plank Road. Emergency responders from Cypress Pointe and Lemon Springs fire departments rushed to the scene and successfully lifted the truck to free her. She was airlifted to a nearby trauma center. The North Carolina Highway Patrol is currently investigating the cause of the crash.
High-Speed Chase in Harnett Ends with Arrest
Deputies in Harnett County pursued a stolen vehicle at speeds nearing 100 mph late Sunday. The chase came to a halt after officers performed a PIT maneuver near Highway 55, forcing the vehicle off the road and into a wooded area. The driver, now facing multiple charges including felony possession of a stolen vehicle and fleeing to elude arrest, was taken into custody. No injuries were reported.
