Pinehurst Senior Advisory Committee Approved by Village Council

Pinehurst update

The Village of Pinehurst is taking a major step to better serve its aging population. The new Pinehurst Senior Advisory Committee was unanimously approved by the Village Council this week, marking the first official committee created in more than a decade.

Village leaders say the Pinehurst Senior Advisory Committee is designed to create structured, two-way communication between local government and the community’s growing senior population across Pinehurst and greater Moore County.

Purpose of the Pinehurst Senior Advisory Committee

Supporters say the Pinehurst Senior Advisory Committee will provide a formal channel for seniors to share concerns, ideas and feedback directly with village leadership. Council member Kevin Fitzpatrick, who spearheaded the initiative, emphasized the importance of listening to the lived experiences of older residents.

Officials describe the move as forward-thinking governance that reflects the significant role seniors play in shaping the Sandhills community.Pinehurst Senior Advisory Committee Approved by Village Council

What Happens Next

Over the next two months, Pinehurst will collect applications and interview prospective members for the Pinehurst Senior Advisory Committee. If the timeline holds, the committee is expected to hold its inaugural meeting in May.

Village leaders say the effort is part of a broader commitment to community engagement and responsive local government throughout Moore County.
