Seven Lakes Fire and Rescue has acquired a truck equipped with a 100-foot tower ladder, expanding the department’s ability to reach taller buildings and attack fires from above once it enters service.
According to Sandhills Sentinel, donations through the department’s annual mailer fundraiser made the purchase possible.
The department has nicknamed the truck the “Queen of the Nest.” It began its career in Union Township, Ohio, in 2001.
Firefighters are practicing how to position the truck and deploy its ladder. Additional training, equipment installation and graphics are part of the preparations before it begins responding to calls.
