One of the most discussed topics involved funding for library services, which account for nearly $4.7 million in county spending.

Commissioners also reviewed staffing requests from the Department of Social Services, where officials requested additional personnel to meet growing demands.

County leaders cited increased local costs resulting from changes in federal funding requirements.

Public Safety and Youth Programs

The sheriff’s office remains the county’s largest public safety expense, receiving more than $33 million under the proposal.

Commissioners also approved requests related to juvenile crime prevention programs.

County officials reported that local juvenile risk levels exceed statewide averages, increasing demand for intervention programs.
