Hamlet Economic Development Project Could Bring Over 1,000 Jobs

Welcome to Hamlet, NC

A major regional proposal is drawing attention across the Sandhills. The Hamlet economic development project jobs plan could generate more than 1,000 new positions if the project reaches full buildout, according to city officials.

Hamlet City Manager John Terziu told the Hamlet City Council that the potential sale of 65 acres of municipal property remains on track, though the deal is still considered tentative. The broader development footprint could exceed 100 acres.

What the Hamlet Economic Development Project Jobs Plan Includes

Preliminary concepts for the Hamlet economic development project jobs initiative include a mix of hotels, strip retail, green industry, small-scale manufacturing, restaurants and childcare facilities.

Officials stress the project depends on the prospective buyer securing builders and partners before moving forward. Still, leaders say the potential job creation would represent a major economic boost for the region.

Terziu noted the development could produce roughly twice the number of jobs expected from the nearby Amazon Web Services project, underscoring the scale of the opportunity.

Infrastructure Projects Moving Forward

Alongside the Hamlet economic development project jobs discussion, city leaders reported progress on key infrastructure upgrades designed to support long-term growth.

A preconstruction meeting for the city’s water plant is scheduled, while the wastewater treatment plant project is advancing toward bid solicitation later this year. Officials say both projects are critical to positioning Hamlet for future economic expansion.

Regional Impact

While Hamlet sits outside Moore County, economic leaders across the Sandhills often watch these developments closely because of their potential ripple effects on jobs, housing and regional business growth.

City officials say multiple projects currently in motion signal positive momentum for community vitality and long-term investment.
