The campaign to restore commercial passenger flights at Moore County Airport has reached another financial milestone.

The Moore County Economic Development Partnership reports that $1.2 million has been secured through signed pledge agreements from local businesses and individuals.

Fly Local Campaign Continues

The signed agreements formalize commitments toward a minimum revenue guarantee designed to help attract an airline to the Sandhills. Revenue guarantees are commonly used to reduce an airline’s financial risk when launching service in a smaller market.

The local campaign, known as Fly Local, is working to bring scheduled passenger service back to Moore County Airport. Supporters say commercial flights would provide another travel option for residents while supporting tourism, golf events and economic development.

No Airline Agreement Announced

The latest update does not indicate that a final agreement has been reached with an airline. Officials also have not announced a confirmed destination or starting date for passenger service.

The $1.2 million represents pledge agreements that have been signed. It may not reflect additional verbal pledges or other funding associated with the broader campaign.

Star 102.5 will continue following the effort and any future announcement concerning commercial flights at Moore County Airport.
