Moore County Opportunity Zones Could Shape Future Growth

The Moore County Opportunity Zones process is receiving additional attention after North Carolina extended the nomination deadline through June 21.

The federal program offers tax incentives to encourage private investment in qualifying low-income areas.

Why Moore County Opportunity Zones Matter

Opportunity Zones are designed to attract businesses, housing projects, and economic development that may not otherwise occur.

Local leaders believe the designation could create long-term benefits for communities that need additional investment.

The designation process focuses on job creation, housing development, and community revitalization.

Robbins Area Identified as Top Candidate

Officials with the Moore County Economic Development Partnership have identified the Robbins area as the strongest candidate for Opportunity Zone designation.

Leaders point to available utilities, development potential, and future growth opportunities in northern Moore County.

Another tract near the Chatham County line is also being considered.

Potential Long-Term Benefits

If selected, these Opportunity Zones could remain in place through 2036.

Economic development leaders say the designation could help attract employers, support housing construction, and encourage private investment throughout northern Moore County.

As Moore County continues to grow, officials hope the program can help strengthen economic opportunities for residents while supporting long-term community development.
