Aberdeen Police Chase Arrest Leads to Multiple Charges

An Aberdeen Police Chase Arrest is making headlines after officers say a Southern Pines man led them on a pursuit through town before crashing into a mailbox and attempting to flee on foot.

The incident happened shortly after midnight on June 2 during a speed enforcement operation along U.S. 1 in Aberdeen.

How the Aberdeen Police Chase Arrest Unfolded

According to Aberdeen Police, officers observed a vehicle traveling well above the posted speed limit. When officers attempted a traffic stop, the driver allegedly continued south on U.S. 1 before turning onto local streets and committing multiple traffic violations.

Police say the vehicle traveled through parts of Aberdeen, ran stop signs, and eventually turned onto Peach Avenue, where it struck a residential mailbox.

After the crash, the driver exited the vehicle and ran from officers.

Authorities say officers quickly located and apprehended the suspect behind a nearby home.

Charges Filed Against Suspect

The suspect was identified as 45-year-old Thomas Frederick of Southern Pines.

He faces several charges, including felony flee to elude arrest with a motor vehicle, driving while impaired, reckless driving, resisting a public officer, injury to personal property, trespassing, driving while license revoked, speeding, and additional traffic violations.

Police say the investigation remains active.
