What is Venous Insufficiency?
When leg veins are healthy they allow blood to flow from the legs back toward the heart. Small valves inside the veins open and close like doors to help control the flow and pressure. Venous Insufficiency is a progressive disease of the valves in the veins of the leg. These valves regulate blood flow back to the heart. When they are sick blood pools in the legs causing many symptoms some of which include pain, swelling, fatigue, and restless legs.
What can VIP do to treat your Venous Insufficiency?
ClosureFast Radiofrequency Ablation
VIP uses ClosureFast radiofrequency ablation for the treatment of superficial varicose veins and Chronic Venous Insufficiency (CVI). The ClosureFast procedure is a minimally invasive ablation treatment that utilizes radiofrequency (RF) energy to provide uniform heat to contract the collagen in the vein walls, causing them to collapse and seal. Once the diseased vein is closed, your blood will re-route itself to your deep vein system. ClosureFast is a trademark of the Medtronic company.
Sclerotherapy
Sclerotherapy is a non-invasive, procedure that treats spider veins and varicose veins using a mild chemical solution, known as a sclerosant. VIP uses state of the art ultrasound guidance to inject the affected veins.
Ambulatory Phlebectomy
An ambulatory phlebectomy is a procedure performed in the comfort of our office in which your physician uses small, slit-like incisions in the skin in order to remove superficial bulging veins. Patients are able to walk immediately after the procedure and continue with normal activities.
Conservative Therapy
Conservative therapy treatment options include leg elevation, exercise, external compression, medical therapy, and weight loss. Conservative therapy is commonly the start of your varicose vein treatment that will be documented in your medical record prior to other treatment options.
Cosmetic Sclerotherapy
While similar to Sclerotherapy, Cosmetic Sclerotherapy concentrates on the visible superficial spider veins. VIP is pleased to help you accomplish your aesthetic needs in the comfort of our office.
Diagnostic Ultrasound
VIP takes excellence in strides and provides you with only the best state of the art technology and equipment. Our ultrasound machine and Registered Vascular Technologist are here to accommodate all vascular ultrasound procedures including Superficial and Deep Vein Studies, Arterial Studies, Procedural Ultrasound Guidance and more.
