Richmond County Stolen Gun Found During Traffic Stop

A Richmond County stolen gun traffic stop has led to felony charges after deputies discovered a firearm reported stolen during a weekend stop. The case is being handled by the Richmond County Sheriff’s Office.

Deputies say the stop was initially conducted for a traffic violation, but during the interaction, they reportedly detected the odor of marijuana coming from the vehicle.

During the search, deputies found a handgun under the driver’s seat that had been reported stolen out of Hamlet. They also reportedly recovered marijuana from the vehicle.
