Moore County Adds Third Early-Voting Site for November Election

Moore County voters will have three locations available during the early-voting period for the November 3 general election.

The Moore County Board of Elections unanimously approved a plan that adds Vass Town Hall to the county’s existing early-voting locations in Carthage and Aberdeen. Moore County early voting will begin Thursday, October 15, and continue through Saturday, October 31.

The three early-voting locations will be:

  • Moore County Agricultural Center, 707 Pinehurst Avenue in Carthage
  • Aberdeen Parks and Recreation Center on U.S. 1 in Aberdeen
  • Vass Town Hall, 140 South Alma Street in Vass

Moore County Early Voting Hours

All three locations are scheduled to operate from 8 a.m. until 7:30 p.m. on weekdays. Saturday voting will be available on October 17, October 24 and October 31 from 8 a.m. until 3 p.m.

There will be no Sunday voting during the 2026 Moore County early voting period. Voters may cast their ballot at any early-voting location in the county, regardless of their assigned Election Day precinct.

The Vass location was added to help reduce travel times and relieve pressure on the busier Carthage and Aberdeen sites. Election officials will also be able to evaluate turnout in Vass before deciding whether the location should be used during future elections.

Staffing was one concern raised during the planning process. Election officials believe three locations can be operated, although the Vass site may have a smaller staff than the two higher-traffic locations.

Registration and Photo Identification

The regular voter-registration deadline for the November election is 5 p.m. Friday, October 9. Eligible residents who miss that deadline may register and vote at an early-voting location using North Carolina’s same-day registration process.

Most voters will be asked to present an acceptable photo ID. Options include a North Carolina driver’s license, a state identification card, a United States passport, a military or veteran identification card and certain tribal or government-issued identification cards.

A voter who does not have an acceptable photo ID may still be able to vote by completing an ID exception form or following the provisional-ballot process. Free voter identification cards are available through county boards of elections, while free state identification cards are also available through the North Carolina DMV.

The Moore County Board of Elections office is located at 700 Pinehurst Avenue in Carthage. The office can be reached at 910-947-3868 or elections@moorecountync.gov.

Election Day is Tuesday, November 3. Unlike Moore County early voting, Election Day voters generally must report to their assigned precinct. Residents should confirm their registration information and make a voting plan before heading to the polls.
