Jennifer Purvis Named Moore County Schools Superintendent

Jennifer Purvis Moore County Schools superintendent is now official after the Moore County Board of Education voted to appoint the longtime educator to the district’s top leadership position.

Purvis will officially begin her role on July 1 after serving as interim superintendent since March. The appointment marks the next chapter for one of the district’s most experienced leaders.

From Classroom Teacher to District Leader

Purvis is a graduate of North Moore High School and has spent her entire professional career serving Moore County Schools.

Throughout nearly three decades, she has worked as a teacher, assistant principal, principal, assistant superintendent, and interim superintendent.

School board members cited her extensive experience and deep understanding of the district as major reasons for selecting her.

Record of Success in Moore County

One of Purvis’ most notable achievements came while serving as principal of North Moore High School.

During her leadership, the school’s graduation rate increased significantly, helping more students successfully complete their education.

She was also recognized as Moore County Schools Principal of the Year in 2016.

Leading the District Forward

As assistant superintendent for operations, Purvis oversaw major departments, facility projects, and operational initiatives across the district.

She worked closely with county leaders and the Board of Education on long-term planning and school improvement efforts.

Moore County Schools serves approximately 13,000 students across 24 schools throughout Moore County.

A public swearing-in ceremony is scheduled for June 10 at North Moore High School in Robbins.
