Honda Recalls Nearly 99,000 Vehicles Over Airbag Defect

Honda has announced a recall affecting nearly 99,000 vehicles due to a defect that could cause airbags to deploy improperly during a crash.

According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), the issue involves the front passenger seat weight sensor. The sensor may crack and short circuit, potentially causing the airbag system to malfunction and increasing the risk of injury.

Which Vehicles Are Included?

The recall affects several Honda and Acura models from model years 2016 through 2026. Popular vehicles included in the recall are the Honda Civic, CR-V, Pilot, Odyssey, Ridgeline, HR-V, and Accord, along with several Acura MDX, RDX, and TLX models.

Vehicle owners can check whether their vehicle is included by searching their Vehicle Identification Number (VIN) on the NHTSA recall website.

What Owners Should Do

Honda says owners will receive notification letters beginning July 6. Dealers will inspect and replace the affected seat weight sensors at no cost to vehicle owners.

Customers with questions can contact Honda Customer Service at 1-888-234-2138.

Check Your Vehicle

If you drive a Honda or Acura manufactured between 2016 and 2026, it’s a good idea to verify whether your vehicle is part of the recall. Taking action promptly can help ensure your vehicle’s safety systems operate as intended.
