Good News: A Journey-Inspired Challenge, and a Horse Stuck in a Tree

Good News

HIGHLIGHTS:  Here are a few more Good News stories making the rounds:  A high school launched a Journey-inspired challenge to support an 11-year-old who is battling cancer. And a rescue team saved a horse stuck in a tree.

FULL STORY:  Here are a few more Good News stories making the rounds . . .

1.  Starmont High School in Iowa went all-out to show support for an 11-year-old battling cancer named Eli Belser.  They launched a “challenge,” where schools have been posting clips of students singing “Don’t Stop Believin'” by Journey as a tribute.  Now, it’s become his “fight song.”

Even cooler?  The student council started this, even though Eli wouldn’t go to Starmont.  He’s from a neighboring school district.  Eli has been fighting cancer since he was in preschool.

Eli said, “Thank you.  And don’t stop believing!”  (This news report has a montage.  Here’s the original video from earlier this spring.)https://www.nbcnews.com/news/embedded-video/mmvo264248389524

2.  A 32-year-old horse in Washington state named Marge got trapped between two trees, and couldn’t free herself.  So the local fire and rescue team responded, and used a “high-point mechanical advantage system” to carefully lift and free Marge from the tight space. She only suffered a few minor scrapes.

3.  The annual “Summer Pass” is back:  Planet Fitness says high school teens ages 14 to 19 can work out for free at any Planet Fitness in the U.S. and Canada all summer, through August 31st.  (Here’s the link to register.)
