Carolina Cinemas Sandhills 10 Unveils New Carolina Extreme Cinema Auditorium

Movie lovers in Moore County have something exciting to celebrate. Carolina Cinemas Sandhills 10 has officially opened its brand-new CXC, or Carolina Extreme Cinema, auditorium — bringing one of the most advanced movie-going experiences in the region to Southern Pines.

The new CXC auditorium features Dolby Atmos digital surround sound, powered by more than 30,000 watts of audio across up to 128 channels and 60 speakers positioned throughout the theater in a full 360-degree layout. The result is a fully immersive sound environment that places moviegoers directly inside the action.

In addition to the audio upgrade, the auditorium also includes a state-of-the-art 4K digital laser projector and the latest cinema screen technology. These upgrades deliver brighter images, richer colors, and sharper detail, creating a visually stunning experience that brings films to life.

The first movie being shown in the new CXC auditorium is Avatar: Fire & Ash, with more major releases expected to be featured in the space moving forward.

Carolina Cinemas also recently upgraded all other auditoriums at Sandhills 10 with Barco laser digital projection systems, ensuring high-quality visuals across every theater.

Jeremy Welman, managing partner and owner of Carolina Cinemas, says the improvements were made possible thanks to the continued support of local moviegoers from Moore County and surrounding communities. The company also operates The Lumina Theater in Chapel Hill.

With these upgrades, Carolina Cinemas Sandhills 10 continues to raise the bar for entertainment in the Sandhills, offering audiences a truly premium movie experience close to home.
