Aberdeen, NC 2026 Budget Focuses on Growth, Infrastructure, and Public Safety

Town of Aberdeen

The Aberdeen, NC 2026 Budget has officially been approved, bringing major investments in infrastructure, public safety, and employee salaries while keeping property taxes unchanged.

Aberdeen commissioners unanimously approved the spending plan during a recent board meeting. The budget totals more than $24 million and reflects the town’s continued rapid growth across Moore County.

Town leaders say the Aberdeen NC 2026 Budget is designed to help the community prepare for future development while addressing current needs tied to population increases and storm recovery.

Major Investments Included in the Budget

Town officials say much of the budget increase is tied to capital projects, public safety equipment, infrastructure improvements, and repairs connected to flooding from Tropical Storm Chantal.

Major projects include upgrades to water and sewer infrastructure, repairs to public buildings, and improvements to the Aberdeen Lake Park bridge.

The town also plans to finance a heavy rescue vehicle for emergency services and replace aging heating and cooling systems in older town-owned facilities.

Officials expect continued growth along the N.C. 5 corridor, where hundreds of new homes are planned in coming years.

Employee Pay Increases Planned

The Aberdeen NC 2026 Budget also includes salary increases for town employees after a recent market pay study.

Town Manager Paul Sabiston says the goal is to remain competitive with nearby communities and improve employee retention.

All town employees will receive at least a 4 percent cost-of-living adjustment, while some positions could see increases up to 10 percent depending on market comparisons and job classifications.

Town leaders say competitive salaries are especially important as surrounding communities continue to grow.

No Property Tax Increase

Despite the larger spending plan, Aberdeen leaders say residents will not see an increase in the current property tax rate.

However, residential and commercial trash collection fees will increase slightly to offset higher county disposal costs.

Officials also noted that the town’s financial reserves remain strong following recent audit results.

A Growing Community in Moore County

Aberdeen leaders say recent census estimates show the town growing at nearly 5 percent, placing it among the fastest-growing communities in North Carolina by percentage.

Town officials believe the Aberdeen NC 2026 Budget positions the community to handle future growth while maintaining public services and infrastructure reliability.

As Moore County continues to expand, Aberdeen leaders say careful planning now will help preserve quality of life across the Sandhills region.
