Priest Hill Mixed Use Development in Carthage

The Priest Hill mixed use development Carthage project earned planning board approval Thursday, promising a transformative 134-acre “live, work, play” community at Priest Hill Road and U.S. 15-501. Local developer Rhetson Companies partnered with Koontz Jones Design to blend townhomes, single-family homes, commercial flex lots, office space, outparcels, and a retail center. This Moore County milestone supports growth in Carthage, Southern Pines, Aberdeen, Pinehurst, and the broader Sandhills region.

Project Phases and Features

Phase one targets flex commercial space—versatile buildings for office, warehouse, light industrial, or showroom uses. The full site will offer housing options alongside business hubs, fostering a walkable vibe near key corridors. “This hybrid commercial real estate fills a real need,” notes the concept design from Koontz Jones.

Impact on Local Economy

Approval signals Carthage’s readiness for balanced development, easing pressure on neighboring towns while creating jobs and amenities. Track progress via Carthage town planning, Koontz Jones Design, and The Pilot coverage. Rhetson Companies’ local roots ensure community focus.
