Randolph County Barn Fire Kills Horses at Callicutt Stables

A devastating Randolph County barn fire kills horses story is drawing attention across central North Carolina after a massive blaze destroyed a large stable facility in Seagrove.

According to reporting from WBTV, the fire broke out Sunday afternoon at Callicutt Stables along Highway 220 Alternate.

Firefighters Faced Fully Engulfed Barn

When crews arrived, the 15,000-square-foot structure was already heavily involved in flames. Multiple departments responded and remained on scene for about five hours battling the fire.

Despite those efforts, the Randolph County barn fire kills horses incident resulted in the loss of 36 of the 43 horses housed at the facility.

No Human Injuries Reported

Officials confirmed no people were hurt in the blaze. However, the barn was declared a total loss.

The East Side Fire Department reported that approximately 20,000 gallons of water were used during firefighting operations.

Investigation Ongoing

The Randolph County fire marshal is currently investigating what caused the Randolph County barn fire kills horses incident. No official cause has been released.
