A Fayetteville teen charged in mother’s stabbing death is now facing serious charges after a disturbing case shocked the Cumberland County community. Authorities say the investigation remains active as new details continue to emerge.

According to reporting from ABC11 WTVD, 17-year-old Isaac Gideon Tracy is accused of killing his mother, 49-year-old Katharine Svaldi, at their home on Daphne Circle in Fayetteville. Because of the severity of the crime, Tracy is being charged as an adult.

Police documents indicate the teen himself called 911, reportedly telling dispatchers he wanted to be arrested after the incident. Officers responding to the home shortly after 7 p.m. Tuesday discovered Svaldi suffering from stab wounds. She was pronounced dead at the scene.

Investigators also reported finding the victim’s body in a recycling bin inside the garage, along with a note believed to have been written by the suspect. Authorities have not released full details about the contents of that note.
