Aberdeen Bids Farewell to Historic Page Memorial Library as New Downtown Location Prepares to Open

A beloved chapter in Aberdeen’s history has closed as Page Memorial Library officially ended operations on January 13, making way for a brand-new, modern library in downtown Aberdeen.

The historic library served generations of residents and was widely regarded as a treasured community gathering place. While its closure marks the end of an era, it also signals a new beginning for the town.

The new Aberdeen Library, located at 123 Exchange Street, will open to the public on January 28. A ribbon-cutting ceremony is scheduled for January 26 at 4 p.m., and the public is invited to attend.

The 4,100-square-foot facility features updated design, expanded reading and study spaces, areas for educational programs and community events, and modern technology. It is located in the heart of downtown near Main Street Park and the Artists League of the Sandhills.

The new library will be the second largest within the Sandhill Regional Library System, helping serve Aberdeen’s growing population.
