Vass NC Forest Fire Burns 100 Acres, Crews Prevent Major Damage

A Vass NC forest fire scorched nearly 100 acres on Friday, prompting a large-scale emergency response across Moore County. Thick smoke filled the air as firefighters worked quickly to contain the blaze.

The fire broke out in a wooded area between Vass-Carthage Road and Union Church Road, near Foster Lane and Crain’s Creek Middle School.

Massive Multi-Agency Response

Multiple fire departments responded to the Vass NC forest fire, along with the North Carolina Forest Service. Crews deployed brush trucks, tankers, and heavy equipment, while aircraft including helicopters and spotter planes assisted from above.

Firefighters focused heavily on protecting homes along Union Church Road. Thanks to their efforts, no homes were destroyed, though one structure did sustain damage.

Fire Contained, Cause Unknown

The Vass NC forest fire was eventually contained after hours of work, but smoke lingered throughout the area. Officials say the cause of the fire is still under investigation.

This incident serves as a reminder of how quickly wildfires can spread, especially during dry and windy conditions in the Sandhills region.
