Simultaneous Wrecks in AberdeenTwo Separate Crashes Snarl Traffic in Aberdeen Thursday NightSimultaneous Wrecks in Aberdeen

Aberdeen first responders were stretched thin Thursday night as they worked two separate collisions that happened almost at the same time in different parts of town. Around 9:15 p.m., two vehicles collided at Johnson Street and U.S. 15-501 in front of Taco Bell, blocking multiple directions of traffic while crews worked to clear an SUV and passenger car from the middle of the intersection. Authorities at the scene indicated one driver failed to stop, but the investigation continues and additional details have not been released.

While that scene was still active, additional Aberdeen units were dispatched to a second wreck near Aberdeen Lake Park involving a truck and a moped. First responders reported the truck was hauling chicken byproducts, and the load spilled into the roadway, prompting notification of the North Carolina Department of Transportation and slowing traffic on both U.S. 1 and U.S. 15-501. Emergency personnel, local police and towing crews coordinated to manage both incidents and keep drivers moving as safely as possible through the area.
