Sanford Teen Shooting Under Investigation After Fatal Incident at The Oaks

A Sanford teen shooting is under investigation after a 17-year-old was killed early Wednesday morning at The Oaks apartment complex. Sanford Police responded to reports of a shooting around 1:30 a.m. on Oak Branch Lane and discovered a teenage victim suffering from a gunshot wound.

According to investigators, the victim accelerated his vehicle after being shot and crashed into several parked vehicles, including a Lee County Sheriff’s Office patrol vehicle. Emergency crews transported the teen for treatment, but he died while en route to the hospital.
