Governor Josh Stein has launched a new statewide campaign to raise awareness about human trafficking. Eleven government buildings in downtown Raleigh will glow blue throughout the week in honor of victims and survivors.

The governor also declared January 11 as Human Trafficking Awareness Day, emphasizing that trafficking is a crime that often goes unseen. The initiative is meant to bring attention to both sex trafficking and forced labor.

Anyone who suspects human trafficking can call the National Human Trafficking Hotline at 1-888-373-7888 or text BEFREE to 233733. Local law enforcement should be contacted only if someone is in immediate danger.
