The Moore County Board of Education has voted to hire BWP & Associates to lead the search for the district’s next superintendent.
The board approved the contract by a 5–2 vote following extended debate. The firm will be paid a base cost of $22,000 plus expenses to recruit, screen, and recommend candidates to replace Superintendent Tim Locklair, who is retiring in March.
Some board members argued that Interim Superintendent Jenny Purvis should be given more time before launching a national search, while others said moving quickly is necessary to attract the strongest candidates.
Under the agreement, the board will still have access to every applicant and can add candidates to the interview pool at its discretion.
