Moore County Pinecone Pathways 2026 Returns With Patriotic Twist

Moore County Pinecone Pathways 2026

The popular Moore County Pinecone Pathways 2026 scavenger hunt is returning this spring — and organizers are adding a patriotic spin for this year’s event.

According to Visit Pinehurst, Southern Pines, Aberdeen Area, the county-wide outdoor adventure will run from March 20 through April 22, concluding on Earth Day.

What’s New This Year

The Moore County Pinecone Pathways 2026 program will feature 100 handcrafted glass pinecones hidden along trail systems throughout Moore County.

In honor of the national America 250 celebration, 25 of those pinecones will be specially designed in red, white, and blue.

The program is produced by Visit Pinehurst, Southern Pines, Aberdeen Area in partnership with Starworks glassmakers in Star, North Carolina.

How the Pinecone Hunt Works

New pinecones will be hidden weekly in groups of 20 across different trail locations. Organizers will announce the featured trails each week on social media to guide participants.

Each find includes a unique number and QR code. Participants who register their finds become eligible for prize drawings.

The grand prize tied to the patriotic pinecones includes:

  • Two-night stay in the Pinehurst area
  • Gift cards from local businesses
  • Limited-edition America 250 flag

Organizers remind participants to keep only one pinecone per person and leave additional finds hidden for others to enjoy.

A Boost for Outdoor Fun in the Sandhills

The Moore County Pinecone Pathways 2026 event continues to draw visitors from across North Carolina and beyond, encouraging families to explore local trails in Southern Pines, Aberdeen, Pinehurst, and surrounding Sandhills communities.

Officials say the program promotes outdoor activity, tourism, and family-friendly fun across the region.
