Moore County Airport Breaks Ground on New Corporate Hangars

The Moore County Airport Corporate Hangars project officially got underway on Friday as local leaders, airport officials, and business representatives gathered to celebrate the groundbreaking of two new facilities that are expected to bring jobs and economic investment to the Sandhills.

The new hangars will be occupied by Titan Echelon and AVA Technologies, two growing defense-related companies whose work supports national security, aerospace operations, technology development, and specialized government missions. Construction is expected to be completed by mid-2027.

The project represents another major milestone in the airport’s ongoing expansion efforts and highlights the growing role Moore County Airport plays in attracting businesses to the region.

Economic Growth and New Opportunities

Airport officials say the Moore County Airport Corporate Hangars project is about much more than new buildings. The development is expected to create high-skilled jobs, generate economic activity, and strengthen the local tax base.

Moore County Airport Authority Chairman Adam Kiker said demand for aviation facilities remains strong and that the new hangars will help support future business growth while enhancing the airport’s role as a transportation and economic asset.

Titan Echelon provides aviation services, logistics, training, and operational support for government and commercial clients around the world. AVA Technologies is a veteran-owned defense technology company that develops solutions for military, homeland security, and national defense missions.

Both companies cited Moore County’s location, airport infrastructure, and strong military and veteran community as key factors in choosing to expand their operations at the airport.

Airport Expansion Continues

The new hangars are part of a larger vision for the airport that includes additional hangar construction, a new Fixed Base Operator terminal building, and continued efforts to restore commercial air service in the future.

Officials say the airport has experienced increasing demand for corporate aviation facilities in recent years, prompting investments designed to attract new employers and improve services for pilots, businesses, and visitors.

The project was designed by SBS Sandhills Building Systems, a longtime partner on several airport development projects.

As construction moves forward, local leaders believe the investment will help position Moore County as an attractive destination for aviation, technology, and defense-related industries while creating new opportunities for residents throughout Southern Pines, Pinehurst, Aberdeen, and the surrounding Sandhills region.
