Police Say Bomb Threat at Harnett County Walmart Was a Hoax

Police say no credible threat was found after officers responded to a reported bomb threat Sunday evening at the Walmart on East Jackson Boulevard in Harnett County.

Store Searched by Multiple Agencies

The call was received by the Harnett County Sheriff’s Office dispatch center at approximately 6:30 p.m., according to Dunn Police Chief Lynn Gay. Although the store has an Erwin address, it is within the Dunn Police Department’s jurisdiction.

Dunn police officers and sheriff’s deputies searched the building. Police said they found no credible threat and determined the report was a hoax. Erwin police assisted with traffic control.

Parking Lot Reopened

Officers began reopening the store’s parking lot around 9 p.m. No injuries were reported in the initial account.

Additional information about the origin of the threat or possible charges had not been announced as of early Monday.
