MAXTON, N.C. — Local and state officials have officially broken ground on a new $5.2 million terminal at the Laurinburg‑Maxton Airport, marking a major step forward for the region’s aviation and economic development.

The 8,200‑square‑foot terminal will feature a two‑story glass design, a public observation area, and larger meeting space for community use. Funding comes from multiple sources, including $1 million from the FAA and additional contributions from the N.C. Division of Aviation and the Airport Authority.

Construction is expected to be completed by late 2026, part of an expansion that includes new hangars and a runway upgrade.
