R. D. Mahan Kiln Opening & Turkey Roast

This year’s turkey will be a “Turkey Jerky” that can be eaten after browsing a selection of our latest pots. R.D. was my father, the late Ronald Dewitt Mahan. This is our kiln opening in honor of the man whose courage, determination and energy inspired me to create whatever I desire. It’s a yearly event at the studio to celebrate, with family and friends, making pottery in Seagrove for almost 40 years. I will have new work available fresh from the kilns. There will be wood-fired pots and electric-fired pots: tree pots, platters, soul pots, bells, and more. Refreshments to go.

Potters’ Pumpkin Patch Trail

This event is a self-guided tour of five pottery galleries each offering special Fall themed items and experiences throughout the month of October. Find your perfect pottery pumpkin and more on the Potters’ Pumpkin Patch Trail along Pottery Highway 705 in Seagrove. Visit Blue Hen Pottery, Crystal King Pottery, Seagrove Stoneware, Thomas Pottery and The Triangle Studio, during weekly business hours, or as they host their own unique events each Saturday in October. Bring a friend and shop for Fall themed decorative and functional pottery, ceramic pumpkins and gourds and festive woodland animal sculptures and decor. Start out by visiting any one of the participating shops. Pick up a Potters’ Pumpkin Patch map and follow the trail through Seagrove to experience the events offered at each shop. Visit www.potterspumpkinpatch.com to find out what each individual shop has to offer.
