Carolina Philharmonic Leaving Bradshaw Performing Arts Center After 15 Years

A major change is coming to Moore County’s arts community as the Carolina Philharmonic’s leaving Bradshaw Performing Arts Center becomes official for the upcoming 2026-27 season.

The Carolina Philharmonic announced it will relocate performances from the Bradshaw Performing Arts Center at Sandhills Community College after a 15-year partnership.

A Longtime Partnership Comes to an End

Conductor and Artistic Director David Michael Wolff said the decision was difficult but necessary as the organization plans for the future.

Over the years, the Carolina Philharmonic became one of the Sandhills’ most recognized arts organizations, performing concerts, educational programs, and community outreach events throughout Moore County.

The orchestra also played a major role in supporting the vision and momentum that helped transform Owens Auditorium into the modern Bradshaw Performing Arts Center.

Sandhills Community College officials released a statement thanking the Philharmonic for its contributions to the community and said they remain committed to arts and cultural programming.

What Happens Next for the Philharmonic?

For now, the orchestra plans to move some performances to R.E. Lee Auditorium at Pinecrest High School. Leaders say the organization also hopes to continue expanding educational programs for students and families.

The Carolina Philharmonic leaving Bradshaw Performing Arts Center also opens the door to larger future ambitions. Wolff says he hopes the transition could eventually lead to a dedicated cultural destination for music and arts in Moore County.

The Philharmonic currently serves thousands of students through outreach and youth music education programs across the Sandhills region.

Many local supporters are now watching closely to see where the orchestra ultimately lands and how the transition could shape the future of arts and entertainment in Southern Pines, Pinehurst, Aberdeen, and Moore County.
