Shortly after that interaction, officers were notified that a victim had arrived at a local hospital with a stab wound to the chest. Investigators responded and confirmed that the injuries were linked to Colonello.

The victim was treated and released with non-life-threatening injuries, according to officials. Police then obtained warrants charging Colonello with felony assault with a deadly weapon inflicting serious injury, as well as misdemeanor communicating threats.

Colonello was later taken into custody following his release from the hospital, where he had been undergoing evaluation for unrelated reasons.

Public Safety Concerns in Aberdeen

The Aberdeen stabbing suspect arrest highlights ongoing concerns about public safety and the role of law enforcement in quickly responding to potentially dangerous situations.

Aberdeen Police say their quick response helped prevent further harm and ensured that the suspect was taken into custody without additional incident.

Residents in Southern Pines, Aberdeen, and across Moore County are encouraged to remain aware of their surroundings and report suspicious activity to local authorities.
