Residents and drivers in Southern Pines should prepare for an after-hours road closure and temporary water outage Thursday evening near the intersection of Murray Hill Road and Rickards Street.
The Town of Southern Pines Utilities Department plans to begin the work at 7 p.m. Thursday, September 3. Crews will replace a fire hydrant, and the project is expected to take approximately four hours.
Water customers in the surrounding area may experience a temporary interruption in service while the replacement is completed. The exact impact may depend on the location of each customer’s connection to the water system.
Drivers asked to avoid the work area
Motorists should avoid the Murray Hill Road and Rickards Street area when possible Thursday night. Drivers who must travel through the area should slow down, watch for utility workers and equipment, and follow all posted signs and directions from crews.
Residents near the project may want to plan ahead by completing chores that require water before the work begins.
The town thanked residents and motorists for their patience while crews complete the necessary hydrant replacement.
