NCDOT Flyover Shows Future of N.C. 211 Between Aberdeen and Raeford

Drivers now have a clearer look at the changes coming to N.C. Highway 211 between the Sandhills and Raeford.

The North Carolina Department of Transportation has released a flyover animation depicting the completed R-5709C construction project. That active section covers more than nine miles, beginning north of Ashemont Road and continuing to West Palmer Street and Mockingbird Hill Road in Raeford.

Four Lanes and New Intersection Designs

Plans call for two lanes in each direction separated by a grass median. The design also includes reduced-conflict intersections, sometimes called superstreet intersections, which redirect some crossing and left-turning traffic to designated U-turn locations.

NCDOT says the design is intended to reduce collision points, improve traffic flow and address existing roadway deficiencies. Current speed limits are expected to remain in place.

A Regional Transportation Project

The broader N.C. 211 widening project extends approximately 15.4 miles from U.S. 15-501 in Aberdeen to Raeford. Construction is already underway on portions of the corridor.

The project is particularly important for residents who commute between Moore and Hoke counties, as well as businesses that depend on N.C. 211 for regional travel and freight movement.

Additional maps and project information are available through the official NCDOT project page. The flyover was reported by the Sandhills Sentinel.
