Property owners in Pinehurst will see a slight tax decrease next year after village leaders approved a new multi-million-dollar spending plan focused on infrastructure, public safety and long-term sustainability.
The Pinehurst property tax cut 2027 budget was unanimously approved by the Village Council this week. The budget lowers the village property tax rate to 22 cents per $100 of property value while funding several major projects across the community.
Village leaders say the new spending plan balances investments in Pinehurst’s future while maintaining stable finances.
Budget Includes Tax Reduction and Major Projects
The new budget totals approximately $33 million and includes about $28.9 million in projected revenue, along with additional use of the village fund balance.
Mayor Patrick Pizzella said village staff continues monitoring spending closely while working to maintain quality services for residents and visitors.
The Pinehurst property tax cut 2027 budget includes funding for several capital projects throughout the village, including the expansion of Given Memorial Library, stormwater improvements, sidewalk connections and resurfacing work on Harness Track Road.
Additional funding is also being directed toward public safety equipment, including a replacement fire truck and a new police officer position.
Village employees are expected to receive merit raises and cost-of-living adjustments under the new budget plan.
Village Focused on Long-Term Sustainability
According to village officials, the budget reflects lower capital spending compared to previous years while avoiding cuts to major town services.
Property taxes continue to account for the largest portion of Pinehurst’s annual revenue, followed by state-shared revenues and appropriations from the village’s fund balance.
The Pinehurst property tax cut 2027 budget also reflects ongoing investments in recreation, environmental protection and transportation improvements throughout the community.
Village leaders say maintaining a strong fund balance has allowed Pinehurst to continue funding large projects without significant tax increases.
Pinehurst has experienced continued growth in both property values and sales tax revenues over recent years, helping support long-term planning efforts.
Officials say the budget process remains closely tied to the village’s strategic planning goals and future development priorities.
