The Pinehurst Medical Clinic mental health expansion is set to improve access to behavioral health care for thousands of patients across Moore County and the Sandhills region.
How the New Partnership Works
The Pinehurst Medical Clinic mental health expansion allows primary care providers to refer patients directly to psychiatrists and behavioral health care managers for ongoing support.
The program is being deployed across PMC’s more than 70 primary care providers, including internal medicine and family medicine teams serving Southern Pines, Pinehurst, Aberdeen, and surrounding communities.
Patients will also have access to digital support through the Wysa app, which provides cognitive behavioral therapy exercises, stress-management tools, and resilience-building activities between appointments.
Addressing a Growing Need in North Carolina
State data shows four in ten North Carolinians live in areas with shortages of mental health professionals. Meanwhile, suicide remains among the top five leading causes of death for residents ages 10 to 65.
Leaders say the Pinehurst Medical Clinic mental health expansion is designed to reduce wait times, improve coordination of care, and better support patients dealing with anxiety, depression, chronic stress, and related conditions.
Impact Across the Sandhills
Pinehurst Medical Clinic hosts more than 230,000 primary care visits annually for nearly 60,000 patients across seven clinic locations.
With demand for mental health services rising across Moore County, officials say the integrated care model will help ensure more residents can access support within their trusted local health system.
