Moore County leaders are setting the stage for major growth and investment as the Moore County Board of Commissioners outlined capital projects and long-term priorities for 2026 during a recent meeting in Carthage.

School Construction Bond Proposed

A key focus is a proposed school construction bond referendum expected to appear on the November ballot. County officials and Moore County Schools are discussing plans for a new elementary school in the Carthage area, a new high school, and possible renovations at Union Pines and Pinecrest High Schools, both of which have exceeded capacity.

Public Safety and Infrastructure Planning

Commissioners also reviewed plans for a new Pinehurst-area EMS base, downtown Carthage revitalization efforts, and long-term infrastructure improvements, including renovations to the historic Moore County Courthouse.

Looking Ahead

County leaders say additional planning milestones must be met before projects move forward, but the discussions mark a significant step toward shaping Moore County’s future.
