Rockingham Speedway will once again come alive with the sound of high-speed racing as NASCAR teams prepare to take the track for a two-day organizational test later this month.
Track Enterprises, the official NASCAR event promoter for “The Rock,” announced that teams from the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series and the O’Reilly Auto Parts Series will participate in testing on Tuesday and Wednesday, January 27 and 28, from 9 a.m. until 5 p.m. each day.
The event is open to the public with free admission, giving race fans a rare opportunity to watch teams fine-tune their cars ahead of the highly anticipated April 3–4 NASCAR race weekend. Food trucks will be on site both days, making it a fun outing for families and racing fans alike.
While a full list of teams has not yet been released, Track Enterprises says many teams from both series are expected to participate. During last year’s test at Rockingham, speeds topped 160 miles per hour, with Ty Majeski setting the fastest lap at 166.567 mph.
The April race weekend will again be sponsored by Black’s Tire and the North Carolina Education Lottery, both returning as title sponsors for the two NASCAR events at the historic Sandhills track.
Fans interested in attending the April races can purchase tickets now, and they will also be available for sale at the track during the January test days.
Rockingham Speedway continues its comeback as one of North Carolina’s premier motorsports destinations, bringing national-level racing back to the Sandhills.
