The Moore County Register of Deeds is warning real estate professionals and industry partners about the fraudulent use of a notary seal that may be tied to improper or criminal real estate transactions.
Officials say documents bearing a questionable seal linked to a Texas notary have been identified in Moore County filings and appear to have been used improperly. The alert applies to attorneys, Realtors, title companies, lenders, closing agents, and others involved in property transfers.
Professionals are urged to closely review documents for unfamiliar or questionable notary seals, inconsistencies in commission details, or execution dates that don’t align. If you encounter suspicious documents, do not proceed with recording, closing, or disbursement.
