Trial Set in Lawsuit Against Former Moore County School Board Member

A lawsuit against former Moore County Board of Education member Philip Holmes is moving forward after a judge rejected efforts to have the case dismissed. The trial is currently scheduled for early April, pending mandatory court-ordered mediation.

The case was filed by a former Robbins Elementary School principal who alleges Holmes improperly encouraged staff complaints during unannounced school visits, leading to her removal and reassignment within the school system.

The lawsuit claims wrongful interference with contract, emotional distress, and damage to professional reputation. Holmes maintains he was acting in his role as an elected board member and denies any wrongdoing.

Both parties must now attempt to reach a resolution through mediation before the case can be heard by a jury.
