Baseball is taking center stage across the Sandhills, with the Sandhills Bogeys celebrating a new franchise record and Hamlet Post 49 closing out a hard-fought American Legion playoff run.

Sandhills Bogeys Set a New Franchise Record

The Sandhills Bogeys have reached another major milestone, earning their 30th victory of the 2026 season and setting a new franchise record.

It marks the third consecutive year the Bogeys have raised the bar. The team recorded 26 wins in 2024, followed that with 29 victories in 2025 and has now reached 30 wins and counting during the 2026 campaign.

The record adds another chapter to the growth of the local summer baseball program. The Bogeys have built a strong connection with fans throughout Moore County by bringing collegiate baseball, family entertainment and community events to the Sandhills.

Fans can follow the remainder of the season, view the schedule and find team information through the official Sandhills Bogeys website .

Hamlet Post 49’s Playoff Run Comes to an End

Hamlet Post 49 entered the second round of the Area 3 Conference playoffs as the fifth seed after sweeping Chatham Post 305 in the opening round.

The 49ers faced a difficult challenge against top-seeded Rowan County Post 342, a program that entered the series with one of the strongest records in the state. Rowan County ultimately won the best-of-three series, bringing Hamlet’s postseason run to an end.

Despite the loss, Hamlet finished the season with momentum after putting together a five-game winning streak late in the year. Head coach Eric Brown credited the team’s improved pitching, defense and offense for helping the 49ers play their best baseball when the postseason arrived.
