‘Play with Purpose’ pink night to benefit local care and treatment

My game of the week is slated for Friday at Pinecrest against Jack Britt, for the program’s “Play with Purpose” pink night. Coach Pride says it will be “a very special game” that will raise funds and awareness to cancer, benefiting locals.

There will be a T-Shirt fundraiser and proceeds of all sales will support FirstHealth Cancer CARE Fund that supports local cancer care and treatment.

The Play with Purpose T-Shirts are available at concessions for $20. Girls tipoff at 6 pm with boys to follow.

One in 8 women will develop breast cancer. Risk increases with age, and 1 in 4 women are not up to date on screenings.

Breast cancer mortality has decreased 42% since its peak in 1989 due to early detection. FirstHealth representatives will speak briefly at the half.
