NC College Connect Offers Direct Admission

Eligible North Carolina public high-school seniors are receiving a simpler path to higher education through the NC College Connect direct-admission program.

The program identifies students who already meet admission requirements at participating North Carolina colleges and universities. Eligible seniors receive a customized list of schools willing to offer them direct admission based on their academic records.

Students generally must be on track to graduate, have a weighted grade-point average of at least 2.8, be enrolled in a fourth-level mathematics course and satisfy the program’s other requirements.

The number of available schools may vary according to a student’s GPA and the requirements of individual institutions.

Students Being Notified in September

Eligible seniors are being notified during September through an offer letter containing information about NC College Connect and a QR code directing them to the College Foundation of North Carolina website.

Students can log into their CFNC accounts to see which participating institutions have offered them direct admission. The list may include select UNC System universities, North Carolina independent colleges and universities and the student’s local community college.

Receiving a direct-admission offer does not require a student to attend that institution. Students can compare their available choices and claim a place at the college or university they would like to pursue.

Simplifying the Admission Process

NC College Connect is intended to remove uncertainty from the application process by showing students where they already qualify academically. It may also introduce students to colleges they had not previously considered.

Students should still review each institution’s enrollment requirements, financial-aid information, deadlines and available academic programs. Additional steps may be required after an offer is accepted.

Families can learn more, review eligibility information and access participating institutions through CFNC.org.
