CARTHAGE, N.C. — Moore County Schools is reporting continued academic progress following the release of North Carolina’s performance data for the 2025-2026 school year.
The district’s four-year graduation rate reached 91.8 percent for the Class of 2026, exceeding the statewide graduation rate of 88.8 percent.
District officials also reported that 73 percent of graduates demonstrated proficiency on the ACT College Readiness Exam, the National WorkKeys assessments or both. WorkKeys assessments are designed to measure skills connected to workplace readiness.
Sixteen Schools Meet or Exceed Growth
Sixteen Moore County schools met or exceeded their academic growth expectations during the 2025-2026 school year.
North Carolina calculates school performance grades using a formula based 80 percent on student proficiency and 20 percent on academic growth.
Pinehurst Elementary and Moore Innovative High earned A performance grades.
Schools receiving B grades were Carthage Elementary, Connect Academy, McDeeds Creek Elementary, New Century Middle, North Moore High, Pinecrest High, Sandhills Farm Life Elementary, Union Pines High, West End Elementary, West Pine Middle and Westmoore Elementary.
Cameron Elementary, Crain’s Creek Middle, Elise Middle, Highfalls Elementary, Southern Middle, Southern Pines Elementary, Vass-Lakeview Elementary and West Pine Elementary received C grades.
Aberdeen Elementary and Robbins Elementary received D performance grades.
The Community Learning Center at Pinckney uses an alternative accountability measure and does not receive a traditional letter grade.
District Leaders Focused on Continued Improvement
Superintendent Jennifer Purvis said the district is proud that grade-level proficiency has reached a 10-year high and that the graduation rate remains above the state average.
District leaders said the results will be used to guide school-improvement plans and classroom instruction during the current academic year. The district’s stated goal is to eliminate D performance grades and have every school meet or exceed its growth expectations.
