Search Continues for Missing Vulnerable Teen Seen in Hamlet

Authorities are asking residents in Scotland and Richmond counties to watch for a missing 18-year-old who may need assistance.

The Scotland County Sheriff’s Office is searching for Jacob Aharon Heckler. Investigators say Heckler has cognitive issues that could make it difficult for him to navigate unfamiliar surroundings or ask others for help.

Surveillance Video Places Heckler in Hamlet

Heckler was initially reported missing from the McLaughlin Road area near Wagram, where he was last seen at approximately 11:15 a.m. Monday, October 26.

Authorities later said surveillance video recorded him in the Hamlet area at approximately 1 a.m. Tuesday. He is believed to be traveling on foot. No official resolution had been announced as of early Wednesday morning.

Description Released by Investigators

Heckler is described as having blondish hair and blue eyes and weighing approximately 150 pounds. He was reportedly wearing black sweatpants and a gray anime hoodie and carrying a clear backpack. Authorities said he also had a black hoodie featuring the character Freddy Krueger.

How to Report Information

Anyone with information about Heckler’s location should contact the Scotland County Sheriff’s Office detective division at 910-266-4332. Call 911 if he appears to be in immediate danger.
