A Wagram man wanted in connection with a fatal shooting at a Laurinburg business has surrendered to law enforcement, according to the Laurinburg Police Department.
Police say 36-year-old Michael Anthony Robinson Jr. is charged with first-degree murder, discharging a firearm within an enclosure to incite fear, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon and going armed to the terror of the public.
The charges stem from an August 29 shooting at Xplicit Sports Bar and Grill on McColl Road. Officers responded to the business shortly before 1 a.m. after receiving a report of a shooting and a person who had been shot.
When officers arrived, they found 46-year-old Ricky Swindell of Laurinburg inside the business with an apparent gunshot wound to the chest, police said. Swindell was transported to Scotland Memorial Hospital, where he later died.
Investigators identified Robinson as a suspect and obtained warrants for his arrest. Police announced that he surrendered after authorities had previously advised that he remained at large.
The Laurinburg Police Department says the investigation remains ongoing. The charges are allegations, and Robinson is presumed innocent unless proven guilty in court.
