Good News: A Donkey Basketball Game, and a TV Reporter Is Getting a Liver From One of Her Viewers

Here are a few more Good News stories making the rounds . . .

1.  A small Minnesota town hosted a donkey basketball fundraiser for local emergency responders.  Yes, you heard that correctly.  Students, teachers, and first responders played a basketball game while riding on donkeys . . . and they wound up raising $4,000 to help pay for new CPR devices for the community.  (Here’s a news report.)

2.  A TV reporter from New York living with two chronic autoimmune liver diseases is set to receive a liver donation from an unexpected source . . . one of her longtime viewers.

The reporter’s name is Amy McGorry . . . and after she publicly shared her diagnosis, she learned that a woman she had never met matched her as a compatible donor.  Amy called the donor a “true angel” and says this has renewed her faith in the power of human kindness.

3.  A group of Australian high school students put their training into action when they rescued an injured man during a remote hike.  The students found a man with a broken leg and used a makeshift stretcher to get him out.

Here’s the cool part:  They had just practiced building the stretcher for another exercise, so they were very prepared for the moment.  They then worked in rotating teams and carried him for hours until the paramedics could reach him.
