A Fayetteville man has been arrested after police say he impersonated a law-enforcement officer to enter a home and commit a robbery.
Fayetteville Police identified the suspect as 27-year-old Jayden Boone. Officers responded to the 2000 block of Osceola Drive at approximately 3:33 a.m. Sunday, September 27.
Police say suspect wore uniform and displayed badge
According to investigators, Boone was wearing a police uniform and ballistic vest, had a handgun in a holster and displayed a badge when residents opened the door. Police allege that he claimed to be working undercover before taking money from the home.
Responding officers reportedly located Boone near the residence while he was still dressed as an officer.
Police equipment reportedly stolen
Detectives said some of the police equipment involved had been stolen from the home of a Fayetteville officer who was away.
Boone was charged with robbery with a deadly weapon, possession of stolen goods and impersonating an officer. Police said he also had outstanding warrants.
Boone is being held without bond at the Cumberland County Detention Center and is expected to appear in court Monday. The charges are allegations, and he is presumed innocent unless proven guilty.
