Fayetteville Police Investigate Deadly Cliffdale Road Shooting

Fayetteville police are investigating a fatal shooting reported Thursday evening on Cliffdale Road.

Officers and emergency medical personnel responded to the 8200 block of Cliffdale Road at approximately 6:46 p.m. They found a man suffering from a gunshot wound, but efforts to save him were unsuccessful. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

Police were withholding the victim’s name until his family could be notified. Investigators said the shooting does not appear to have been random and that they do not believe there is an ongoing threat to the public.

The investigation remains active. Anyone with information may contact Fayetteville Police or submit an anonymous tip through Fayetteville-Cumberland County CrimeStoppers at 910-483-8477.

The circumstances surrounding the shooting have not been fully disclosed.
