Carolina Panthers Prepare for Hall of Fame Game and Kuechly Enshrinement

The Carolina Panthers are beginning a major week in franchise history as the team prepares to play in Canton and celebrate one of its greatest players.

Carolina will face the Arizona Cardinals on Thursday, August 6, in the Pro Football Hall of Fame Game in Canton, Ohio. The matchup will serve as the first preseason game on the 2026 NFL calendar.

It will be the Panthers’ first appearance in the Hall of Fame Game since the franchise’s inaugural season in 1995. Carolina defeated the Jacksonville Jaguars 20–14 in that exhibition game.

Extra Preseason Opportunity for Carolina

Playing in Canton gives the Panthers an additional preseason game and an earlier start to training camp preparations.

The matchup should provide Carolina’s coaches with an extended opportunity to evaluate rookies, younger players and those competing for positions on the regular-season roster.

The Cardinals also have a connection to the 2026 Hall of Fame class through former wide receiver Larry Fitzgerald, creating a matchup between two franchises represented during enshrinement weekend.

Luke Kuechly Entering the Hall of Fame

The biggest Panthers moment of the week will arrive Saturday, August 8, when former linebacker Luke Kuechly is formally enshrined in the Pro Football Hall of Fame.

Kuechly was selected in his second year of eligibility. He joins a 2026 class that includes Drew Brees, Larry Fitzgerald, Adam Vinatieri and senior candidate Roger Craig.

Kuechly becomes the latest Panthers legend to receive football’s highest individual honor. He follows Sam Mills and Julius Peppers as former Carolina standouts represented in Canton.

During his Panthers career, Kuechly became known for his preparation, leadership and ability to diagnose opposing offenses. His impact extended beyond individual statistics, as teammates and coaches regularly credited him with improving the performance of the entire defense.

The Hall of Fame Game will open the week on the field, but Kuechly’s enshrinement will provide the defining moment for Panthers fans across the Carolinas.
